January 2 | Glorify God

January 2, 2015

Text: Ephesians 1.13-14

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being” (Revelation 4.11). One of the ways we glorify God is to partner with him to move his creation forward from the Garden in Genesis, to the New Heaven and Earth in Revelation.

When we personally believe in what Jesus did on the cross, we bring God glory (Ephesians 1.13-14).  From then on we exist to partner with him in the restoration of peace in a fallen and disrupted world. This is what Jesus refers to in Luke 11.23, when he says, “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” It matters to Jesus that we partner with him.

God is looking for partners who will work for “his kingdom to come,” by living for him in the here and now! As this week comes to a close, consider the One Big Question . . . How can you partner with God to make things in the here and now more like he wants them to be? Discuss this with your small group or around the table when you gather as a family.
