Beyond the Weekend

Text: James 1.23-25

Truth be told, to be human is to be forgetful. Somewhere between The Row and the living room, we lose focus. Between The Row and the office, we charge into life. Between The Row and our daily responsibilities, we forget.

Even when our minds recall the facts, our hearts quickly forget. Our hearts are just like James describes: walking away from a mirror and forgetting what we look like. Undoubtedly, all of us have walked away from The Row at a weekend service with little to no recall of the message God spoke to us and wants us to remember. We rush out of a service, pick up kids from DV, look for people to connect with, and head home for a feast and football. When our minds move on, our hearts move with them and our actions follow suit.

According to James, the way we remember truth is through action. If we desire to remember, we must “look intently” at and “continue in [the truth]” (James 1.25). Following these two instructions takes intentionality and practice.

This month Ada Bible Church will launch new small groups where you can practice “looking intently” at and “continuing in [the truth]” which you receive in The Row. Register today and plan to attend Group Launch on January 25 from 4-6 p.m.
