Beyond the Weekend

April 3 | Good Friday

Text: Luke 23.26-49

Six hours. One Friday. Let me ask you a question: What do you do with that day in history?
What do you do with its claims?
(Max Lucado, Six Hours One Friday, p.22)

It’s the most significant Friday ever. What happened on that Friday has never been equaled. Even if you add all other Fridays together, it still doesn’t equal what took place that Friday. What took place that Friday, and how we respond to it, makes all the difference in the world. And in the next world.

Make no mistake, we all respond to it. Many ignore it, believing it never happened. Some believed it happened but think it’s no big deal. Others believe it happened, think it means something, but haven’t seen the need to really find out. Still others know it happened, have recognized it’s cosmic significance, and have had their lives radically changed as a result.

God on the cross. The righteous for the unrighteous. The innocent for the guilty. Light for darkness. For us. For you.

Today, use Lacey Sturm’s song, “Mercy Tree” to remind you of all that was accomplished on this day.
