Text: Galatians 6.1-10
When everybody’s looking out for somebody, the image is beautiful. But be warned: it’s likely going to get messy and complicated. Stepping into someone else’s life can be very difficult. At some point in life, we’ll all experience people in really bad situations because of their own sin or because of other people’s sin. Nevertheless, we’re called to “carry each other’s burdens, and in this way . . . fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6.2).
Becoming a Tabitha and committing to a lifestyle of compassion is not convenient or efficient because healthy solutions aren’t often found in the quick fix. Jeff Manion says, “Arriving at greatness happens when we commit to a lengthy corridor of repeated goodness,“ and Paul tells us “a man reaps what he sows… [and] at the proper time… reaps a harvest if [he does] not give up” (Galatians 6.7-9). You’ll never reap in the same season you sow, but you will reap. What seems risky at the time has great potential to produce much good if you take the risk.
Today, ask God to help you answer this week’s One Big Question . . . Who needs me to partner with them in their season of difficulty?
