Text: 2 Timothy 4.6-8

The Apostle Paul writes to his protégé Timothy and declares, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4.7). These words are designed to inspire Timothy to dig in for the long haul and stay motivated to continue walking the path God has for him. Paul’s words echo his previous encouragement to Timothy when he said, “Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…” (1 Timothy 6.12a).

Staying motivated to do good and simple things over and over is not easy. Living a magnetic life is not an overnight reality and rarely does a “quick fix” work for life’s more complicated challenges. The race is slow and steady. So let us heed Paul’s encouragement to fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith. God’s plan to build a magnetic community, drawing people to himself, depends on our commitment to wake up each day and serve one another with good and simple acts of love.Take a moment to listen to the song “Good Fight” by Unspoken. Be encouraged to never give in and fight the good fight today.
