Text: Acts 11.27-30

It might be surprising to learn that God’s movement in our lives isn’t primarily for our benefit—it’s for the benefit of others. It’s what we see in Antioch when those who come to faith in Jesus (after hearing of the famine in Judea) take up a collection to help provide food for fellow believers. God’s movement in Antioch ultimately results in food in Judea.

Never think that when God moves in our lives it’s for our benefit only. God’s movement in our lives is always for the sake of others. It’s what the Apostle Paul means when he writes in 2 Corinthians 1.3-4, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God” (emphasis added). God’s movement in our lives is never to stop with us—it needs an outlet.

Today, answer this week’s One Big Question: Where is God asking me to move? Use your answer to identify how God’s movement in your life can be beneficial to someone else.
