September 1 | God is Faithful

September 1, 2015

Text: 1 Corinthians 1.4-9

The fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5.22-23 is a reflection of the character of God. At the heart of these characteristics is faithfulness—God promising he will never abandon us or cease to work in our lives. He is faithful to shape us into the likeness of Jesus.

Truthfully, we walk through some tough experiences: the loss of a child or spouse, shouting matches in our homes, unfair work environments, and kids who are estranged from parents and God. These experiences hurt and can cause us to question the intentions and power of God. It doesn’t always feel like he is faithful.

While God allows difficult experiences in our lives, he promises, “He will also keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1.8). God is faithful as he never stops moving you forward. He won’t leave you stuck or stagnant, nor will he allow you to be completely wiped out by the enemy. So as we pursue and obey God, we can be sure he’ll only lead us down paths that will form the life of Jesus in us, as difficult as they may be.

As you welcome God into your day, listen to the song God of Every Story by Laura Story. Respond by thanking God he is faithful, never wavering in his perfect plan to show you his love as he crafts the life of Jesus in you.
