Text: Matthew 25.14-30

Jesus tells a parable of three managers entrusted with a sum of money to invest. Two of the managers performed admirably, but the third simply buried his money in fear his investments might flop. To the faithful managers the Master speaks these words, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share in your master’s happiness” (Matthew 25.21, 23).

In this story God is the master and we’re the managers. And each of us has been entrusted with much! We have the opportunity to be faithful with the skills, resources, and truth we’ve received as believers, or we can simply bury them in the ground. Remember, the reward of our faithfulness is the joy and friendship of the Father. Our hearts should ache to hear the words of the Father saying to us, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Take a minute today to consider in what areas God is calling you to be a faithful steward. As you narrow down your top two or three, ask God to help you invest in such a way to bring him glory and joy. And may we someday hear the words of our Good Father, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
