Text: Galatians 6.7-10

This past week we’ve discussed one of the most challenging aspects of following Jesus: loving others sacrificially. There’s no way around it, this is tough to do on a consistent basis. That’s why the Apostle Paul closes his letters to the Galatians with this note of encouragement saying, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6.9). He knows how easy it is to become discouraged and want to give up.

Be reminded today that God is at work in you. It is a process by which God gradually trains us to love and see people as he does. So don’t give up or give in, it’s worth the effort. Our reward is worth more than gold or silver. God has an awesome plan to use you in the lives of others. When you feel the temptation to act selfishly and “throw in the towel,” turn your eyes back to Jesus as the motivation and model. We love because he first loved us.

As you welcome God into your day, say a special prayer for endurance. Ask God to give you the strength and humility to continue serving others as Christ came to serve us. Let Jesus be your model today and keep your eyes on eternity—it’s not far away.
