Text: Philippians 2.1-11

Christians come from all walks of life having countless interests, various fields of vocation, and live in every corner of the globe. Yet, there is one defining factor unifying us—to be like the Christ. In spite of our differences, we share the beautiful reality that we carry the person of Jesus as our chief identity.

The Apostle Paul encourages the believers of Philippi to adopt the heart and mind of Jesus. This new mindset should define us in every walk of life and be an identifying marker of a Jesus follower. Instead of creating a list of rules, Jesus teaches us to learn his heart and to live like he would if he were in our shoes.

God wants you to live like Jesus today in your job or when you’re issuing loving discipline to your children. By adopting the mind of Christ, it’s as if Jesus is actually living through you.

At the heart of this mindset is humble servanthood. Jesus came to give his life as a ransom for many. In the same way, we should rejoice when we have the opportunity to give of ourselves to serve those around us. To aid in further meditation, listen to the song “I Will Follow” by Chris Tomlin. May the words inspire you to love others as Christ loves us.
