December 18 | God Moves In

December 18, 2015

1 John 1.1-4

God moves in. Over 2,000 years ago the infinite, almighty, everlasting God entered our reality through a miracle birth. His entrance was prophesied over 300 times in the Old Testament. At the center of our Christmas decorations, presents, food, songs, parades, and pageants is this one startling fact: God moves in!!

In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made…. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1.1-2, 14).

Born of a virgin, in a stable, unnoticed by people, but heralded by angels. This one moment in time that changed history; the night Jesus is born and God moves in. And to those who will accept him, he continues to move in.

As you sit in The Chair today, take a moment to again hear the Christmas story told in Luke chapter 2, by Linus Van Pelt, from A Charlie Brown Christmas.
