Trusting in the faithfulness of God points back to his character. It’s a fact of truth—we can trust him when he makes a promise. God is not a liar and doesn’t capriciously change his mind (Numbers 23.19). He’s as solid as a rock (Psalm 18.31), and as true as the sun rising and setting (Isaiah 45.6). We can depend on these facts regardless of the pain and hurt in our lives.
The Old Testament book of Lamentations, also written by Jeremiah, declares, “Because of the Lord’s great love (fact of truth) we are not consumed for his compassions never fail (fact of truth). They are new every morning (fact of truth), great is your faithfulness (fact of truth).”
As we come to the end of this series, recommit yourself to trusting in the unshakable character of God. As you meet with him today, listen to this recording of “Great is Thy Faithfulness” by Chris Rice and thank God for his faithful character.
