March 24 | From Enemy to Friend

March 24, 2016

Romans 5.1-11

Through Jesus’ suffering and death, God made a way for us: from being an enemy of God to being his friend, from being guilty to being declared innocent, and from being spiritually dead to spiritually alive. But—it’s only because of the cross!

For many of us, that’s a difficult concept to understand and accept. We so desperately want to contribute something to the process—to think we can earn God’s favor or to believe our good works will somehow “outweigh” our sin on some cosmic scale of justice. But that’s not how it works.

The former persecutor of Jesus followers put it this way, “For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life” (Romans 5.10)! Grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

To help you celebrate all that Jesus did on the cross, listen to Chris Tomlin’s “Jesus Messiah.” Use the lyrics of this song to lead you in worship of God and his amazing grace through his Son.
