Remaining isolated, trapped, and cut off from those who can help is easy. We just have to do nothing. We’re “hiking” and no one knows where we are—beginning to think immoral sexual activity won’t really be that bad, looking at how easy it would be to “cook the books” and pocket some extra cash, joining the crowd as they begin to experiment with illegal drugs, or discouraged from years of work at a job that’s headed nowhere. Those who can help have no clue because we haven’t told them. This has to change!
Yesterday you were asked to write down the names of one or two people you can count on to make sure you’re not going it alone. Today in Day 17 (page 124) of DBTS, reflect on when and where you can meet for strength, encouragement, and accountability. This week, begin to build into these people and allow them to build into you. Don’t put this off! Make the call or send the text. It’s time to stop “hiking” alone.
