TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life…

Read the entire passage: Deuteronomy 17.18-20

TODAY’S MESSAGE

God wanted Israel to be different. He wanted people to see Israel and see his goodness and greatness. The king should have been the best example of God’s goodness. God gave instructions 400 years before the first king was crowned on how they could resist the pull to conform to the surrounding nations.

Likewise, God wants us to be different. He wants us to believe the life he offers is life to its fullest. He wants people to be able to look at us and see his goodness and greatness. However, just like the kings, our heart naturally drifts toward the culture around us.

At Ada Bible, we’ve identified three environments important to taking steps toward God instead of drifting away. The Row (weekend services), the Circle (small groups) and the Chair (time alone with God) help us grow our relationship with God.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Today, consider how you can use the rest of the summer to move toward God instead of drifting away from him. How can you use the three environments to do that? Perhaps you need to commit to faithful attendance at the weekend service. Maybe you need to meet with your small group to discuss life and God’s truth. It could mean you need to plan to read your Bible every day this summer (a great place to start would be to read a chapter a day from John’s gospel). Take time today to identify some next steps you can take to prioritize the Row, Circle and Chair this summer.
