July 25 | Prosperity of Uzziah

July 25, 2017

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

[Uzziah’s] fame spread far and wide, for he was greatly helped [by God] until he became powerful.

Read the entire passage: 2 Chronicles 26.3-15

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Uzziah was very successful. He was a fierce war general and a capable defender. He invented unique defenses for the Jerusalem wall. He expanded his territory to include major trade routes and seaports. He was also brilliant at farming and building up the economy.

But there was a force behind Uzziah that other kings in the territory were lacking—the blessing of God. Backed and made prosperous by God, he created Uzziah with leadership abilities, intelligence and creativity. Uzziah was able to use every gift. Everything he gained came from pursuing and obeying God. His success as Judah’s king glorified God to the surrounding nations.

God wants to give us success too. It starts when we begin a relationship with him through Jesus. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do,” (Ephesians 2.10).  Like Uzziah, God created us with gifts he wants us to use to glorify him. Any success we have ultimately comes from God.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Recognize God as the source of your success today by praying, “Thank you, Father, for the physical and spiritual blessings you’ve given me. I acknowledge my successes are because of you and how you’ve made me. Thank you for working through me. Lead me to the places you want and bless me the way you desire.”
