TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in a separate house—leprous, and banned from the temple of the Lord.

TODAY’S MESSAGE
When King Uzziah unlawfully enters the Temple sanctuary, he didn’t think he would be leaving with leprosy. He was so pompous that punishment wasn’t even on his radar. As Proverbs 16.18 says, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” Uzziah defiantly entered the Temple and left with rotting skin—an ironic metaphor for the condition of his heart.
What happens to Uzziah is a good reminder of what can happen when we openly defy God. He gives us the choice to follow and obey him or not. As Pastor Bob King pointed out in the sermon last weekend, “We can choose to sin, but we don’t get to choose the consequences.”Uzziah’s attitude toward God became disdainful and unthankful. Through his downfall, God makes the point he desires honor, worship and obedience. It’s doubtful we will be struck with leprosy for a bad attitude but God can choose to get our attention any way he wants.
