September 1, 2017

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him [Jesus], and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood shed on the cross.

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Peace is the inner experience of trust—knowing God is really in control. It is a by-product of knowing the end of the story. Many circumstances in our lives seem to be “loose ends.” Situations that end in loss and just don’t make sense. But we know the end of the story. Jesus wins. We are promised that God will make all things right through Jesus. Including evil and pain.

We can experience his peace here and now by placing our confidence in that he’s in control of our situation and knows what he’s doing. It might feel like your life is spinning out of control. In those moments, it’s imperative to re-center your trust on Jesus. The author of the book of Hebrews states it this way, “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:1b-2a).
