TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.  Philippians 1:6

Read the entire passage: Philippians 1:4-6
Listen to the chapter: Philippians 1

TODAY’S MESSAGE

God finishes what he starts. When Paul writes this letter, he’s looking down the corridor of time to the day when Christ returns.  This was probably on his mind a lot as he waited in prison for his sentence. Paul wanted to assure Philippian Christians (and all of us) there will be a day when we stand before God, the work he started in us having been made complete by him.  We will no longer have to struggle with sin, the temptations of the world and the lies of Satan.  It is a powerful assurance that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit have us completely covered.

This promise of being made complete by the power of God should propel us forward in our faith. The Holy Spirit is working in us when we obediently respond to his generosity by putting our faith into action. The guarantee of God completing us is an unequaled guarantee of current and future joy.

Watch the video clip below as Senior Pastor Jeff Manion explains this promise.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Today, write a prayer of thanksgiving on page 14 of your Philippians: Choosing Joy Under Pressure journal. Say in your own words, “Thank you God that I don’t have to work in my own power to make myself look like Jesus. Thank you for providing the Holy Spirit to guide and work through me as I surrender myself to learning your Word and offer you my time and resources. Thank you for growing me to be like Jesus from the inside out so that when I stand before you, I will be complete.”
