September 22 | Right Fruit

September 22, 2017

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

…so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:10-11

Read the entire passage: Philippians 1:9-11
Listen to the chapter: Philippians 1

TODAY’S MESSAGE

In the opening of his letter, Paul emphasizes his love for the Philippian Christians. He repeats how often they are in his prayers, how he longs to see them and how important it is for them to continue sharing the Gospel as they grow, love with discernment and bear spiritual fruit in their lives. This fruit of righteousness is the ongoing summary of everything Paul is talking about in his letter.

Senior Pastor Jeff Manion often talks about “Holy Redundancy,” the continual practice of doing those things God has called us to, over and over.  Like when you continually have Chair Time with God, do Bible study, talk with God (pray), serve, act with generosity, or share your testimony. These things done over and over bear the fruit of righteousness in your life, and overflow to the people around you. They are the fulfillment of what God started in your life when you accepted Jesus and what God will bring to completion.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Paul isn’t talking about one time acts of goodness. He’s talking about day by day trust in and surrender to God that over time makes a difference.  Listen to the song God is Able by Hillsong and thank him for the work he is doing in your life as you practice Holy Redundancy.
