TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

I consider [my resume] garbage, that I may gain Christ  and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ. Philippians 3:8b-9a

Read: Philippians 3:1

Listen: Philippians 3

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Trying to find salvation through performance is exhausting, stressful and worthless. That is why Paul continually points believers back to the gospel as a safeguard. Paul didn’t want the Philippians to believe in the gospel and move on. He wanted them to believe in the gospel and move in.

Being “found in Jesus” means we haven’t moved on to “good works” but we’ve moved in with him. We are getting to know him through learning his Word (the Bible), praying, accepting and living in his forgiveness, and trusting in his Holy Spirit to teach, inspire and work through us.

This means spending time with him in The Chair each day. It means continually talking to him throughout the day, and relying on him to live the way he asks. It is not behaving our way to righteousness, but righteousness that comes from him.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Not having a resume of “good works” but being covered by the righteousness of Christ qualifies us for Heaven. All we need written on our resume is, “I’m with him!” Today as you meet with God, go to page 38 of your journal and list some ways you may be working for God’s affirmation instead of living in his Grace.  Ask him to help you be found in him, relying on his guidance, power and grace.
