TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Ephesians 1:3

Read: Ephesians 1:3-14

Listen: Ephesians 1

TODAY’S MESSAGE

There is more to thankfulness than we realize. Quickly review your Thankfulness List from this week. How many are life basics like food, clothing, house, vehicle, job or health? In contrast, how many are spiritual? Things like salvation in Christ, Jesus’ sacrifice, forgiveness of sin or the power of the Holy Spirit? Don’t be surprised if you have more in the first category than in the second. We are often conditioned to think that way.

But in these verses in Ephesians, Paul thanks God for one spiritual gift after another. It is a seemingly endless list of spiritual blessings which should be on the “Thankfulness List” of everyone who claims the name of Jesus. It is no wonder he begins the section with “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” and ends it with “…to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:3 and 14). When he reflected on God’s amazing spiritual blessings—he had to praise God!

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Today continue to add three more unique things for which you’re grateful to your list. But today, add three things that are spiritual. If you need some help, reread today’s verses and circle all the things on Paul’s list. Pick three and add them to your list. In your prayer time, thank God for these spiritual blessings.
