January 5, 2018

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Read: Philippians 4:6-9

Listen: Philippians 4

TODAY’S MESSAGE

This week we conclude the series, Finding Peace in a Culture of Anxiety. While the series ends, we know that our pursuit of peace does not. Our prayer is that you have taken a step or two towards living in the peace God offer.

There will be situations this year that will require you to revisit the principles and practices discussed these past six weeks. As you reflect on this series, determine the one thing in your life God uses to replace fear with peace. It is the good movement that pushes out the bad.

For some of us, it might be the “21-Day Challenge” of daily listing three unique things for which we’re grateful. We did it for 21 days; we probably need to do it for the rest of our lives. Or maybe it’s continued meditation on one of the great promises found in Philippians, such as today’s verse. Memorize it and use it. Or maybe it is turning off one of the media “faucets” in our life, continuing that one-week practice throughout 2018.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Finding Peace in a Culture of Anxiety doesn’t end today. It is just beginning as it needs to become a way of life. As you spend time alone with God today, decide the one thing God will use to push out worry and anxiety in your life. Write it on a 3×5 card and place it where you can see it every day. Be reminded of what you need to do when you sense being consumed by fear.
