TODAY’S MESSAGE
The church in Corinth excelled in almost every area. They had strong faith, solid doctrine, spiritual passion and self-sacrifice. There was just one more area in which they needed to step up—giving. Paul challenged these believers to elevate their giving to the same level as these other spiritual virtues. From these virtues should flow radical giving. They were to grow in their generosity.
A barrier for many of us is that we don’t know where we’re at financially. We can’t grow because we don’t really know. Our finances are in disorder. We’re not sure how much comes in, and we have no idea where it goes. We have no clue how much of our income we give to others.
A great first step in “knowing” is Balanced. Balanced is our church-wide, small group experience we’re encouraging all groups to do. In Balanced, you’ll get a great snapshot of your finances and begin to excel in the “grace of giving.” The first step to growing is knowing.
IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY
Ask yourself if you’re growing in your financial generosity. Maybe you’ve stalled over the past several years. Or maybe you’ve never grown at all. If so, it’s time to know and grow! Encourage your small group to do Balanced. Balanced workbooks are available here from North Point Church. If you’re not in a group, consider doing this as a couple or with a group of friends. It’s time to know!
