TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25

Read: Proverbs 11:25

Listen: Proverbs 11

TODAY’S MESSAGE

The author of this Proverb states a life truism: generous people enjoy life more. There is something about the way God created us that our quality of life is better when we don’t only focus on ourselves, but begin helping others. God didn’t create us to be selfish.

Giving is for others but also for us. Our life begins to shift when we move out of our self-centeredness. Our relationship to our possessions begins to change as we become generous. Suddenly, the things we own no longer define us. We begin to see victory over the constant need to compare ourselves to others. Generosity affords us the opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life, but also slowly begins to change who we are. We move closer to becoming the person we were created to be.

Opportunities to be generous are all around us once we learn how to spot them. One of the best tools is asking questions. Sometimes all it takes is asking the people around us if they know of anyone who needs help with yard work, school supplies, transportation or something else.
