Listen: Acts 3

TODAY’S MESSAGE

It’s been two months since the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Peter is not the same man he was before. Instead of hiding—he steps out with boldness and courage with power coming straight from the resurrected Jesus who said, “You will receive [my] power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem…to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Peter and the other disciples received his power at Pentecost (Act 2:1-4) and now fearlessly speak out about their resurrected Savior.

Soon after Pentecost, Peter and John encounter a man lame from birth. He sits at a gate near the temple to beg for money. Peter doesn’t have money but says he will give what he has, then commands the man to get up and walk in the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

The resurrection power of Jesus is on the move. It transforms Peter from weakness to boldness. It lifts a lame man out of despair into hope. God’s restoring power is not a one-time Easter event but an on-going life event.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Pray with open hands today, “Father God, help me not to make Easter a one-day event in my life. Show me what I need to surrender to you for your life-giving power to flow through me every day.” This week we will see how resurrection power lifts us up, turns us around and covers us with life-giving resilience to walk with Christ.
