TODAY’S MESSAGE
The book of Psalms is a collection of Hebrew poetry originally set to music. It reveals the heart and emotion of the author’s journey of trust with God. Numerous authors wrote the Psalms over a period of hundreds of years. They were a central part of worship in ancient Israel. The Psalms were written by real people, reflecting their experience with God.
Our August series is a taste of what is in the Psalms. Many people have a vibrant connection to the Psalms and return to them over and over. In fact, it is one of the most read books of the Bible. Though they were written thousands of years ago, the Psalms are relevant to us no matter what we are going through in life.
Psalm 116 recounts the response of someone after surviving a life storm. The psalmist is on the other side. He recognizes the provision and protection of God throughout the ordeal. The response is to offer God a thank offering. This week, we will journey through Psalm 116 and unpack the idea of a thank offering in our context.
