TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. Psalm 71:14

Read: Psalm 71

Listen: Psalm 71

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Facing trouble in a journey of trust with God is normal. In Psalm 71, the author (probably David, the second king of Israel) encourages his readers to remain hopeful and not despair. But he also wants them to develop contagious hope by talking about God’s deliverance and helping others to be hopeful. It was a journey he had traveled.

From an early age, David was no stranger to trouble. Facing lions and bears as he tended his family’s flock, God rescued him (1 Samuel 17:34-37). God also delivered David when he faced Goliath, the giant Philistine warrior (1 Samuel 17:38-51). During each challenge, David was learning to trust God. Each situation moved him closer to contagious hope.

Whether we’re age 20, 40 or 60, our goal should be to develop that kind of hope. This week, we’ll learn what it means to experience God’s deliverance and then help others move forward in hopefulness.
