TODAY’S MESSAGE

People have wondered what God is like throughout the world and human history. Because we all have vastly different experiences, we often come to vastly different conclusions. Some think God is only a god of prosperity who wants to bless us. Others are angry at him for allowing heartache in their lives. The result is that we are all tempted to craft a specific image of God based on our experiences, culture and preferences. Without a clear picture of who God is, we shouldn’t be surprised by all of these distorted images. However, we have a clear picture—and that picture is Jesus.

When asked what God was like, Jesus gave us an entirely new kind of answer. He doesn’t merely describe God; he claims to be God himself. Claiming to be “the way, the truth and the life” are the most controversial claims Jesus made. This week we’ll see what he really meant and choose whether to really listen.
