TODAY’S MESSAGE

This past weekend, Dr. John Dickson kicked off our new series that looks at some of the world’s major religions and compares them with Christianity. This week we look at Hinduism and Buddhism, next week Islam, and then wrap up with the question, “Is Jesus the only way?” Just like Christianity is different based on geography and denomination, other religions practice in different ways around the world. This series examines some common beliefs among these religions while acknowledging their diverse ideas.

The world is shrinking as technology increases. Other religions don’t exist only in other countries on the other side of the world. Increasingly, people practicing these religions live in our neighborhoods and work in our workplaces. It is important to know the differences and how to have meaningful conversations with those of other faiths.

There is even more. You may find you have picked up some ideas from other religions you thought were Christian. In this series, we will better understand what we believe and the uniqueness of Christianity.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Find a quiet place. With your hands out and palms up, offer up a prayer of openness to begin this week. Pray something like this, “God, you are good and above all others. I am open to learning more about you this week. Would you teach me and stretch me. Amen.” Download this lock screen to help you this week.
