TODAY’S MESSAGE

Over these last three weeks, we’ve learned some of what three major religions—Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam—believe. We’ve also learned more about what sets Christianity apart, what makes it different to every other religion. John Dickson has taught us that there really is a difference when it comes to what we believe.

We’ve been encouraged to see other religions in their best possible light. For many of us this is a challenging proposition. It is easy to see religions in the worst possible light when we scroll through the day’s headlines. Through this series, John also taught us how other religions view Christianity. He showed us why their reasons for rejecting Christianity make sense to them.

But he also reminded us of the uniqueness of who Jesus is and what he did for us on the cross. One of the New Testament’s best summaries is found in Philippians 2. In what many believe is an early Christian hymn, Paul reminds his readers of the humility of Jesus demonstrated by his sacrificial death on the cross. It’s no wonder that Paul’s conclusion is “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11).
