TODAY’S MESSAGE

This weekend we started our fall series Strength for the Journey. This series follows Paul and his companions as they spread the Jesus-movement throughout Greece in Acts 16-18. Paul wants to go back to check on some Jesus-communities started from his travels in Acts 13-14. This idea blooms into a journey that occupies him for the next three years and covers approximately 2,700 miles. This journey gets complicated.

Like Paul, we may find our modest plans diverted into a complicated or lengthy life-journey. Sometimes our seasons of greatest movement are accompanied by significant challenges. Incredible opportunity mixed with extreme difficulty. There are roadblocks common to God-honoring journeys. Paul’s journey provides encouragement and hope for us as we navigate accompanying roadblocks of our journeys.

Throughout this series, we will be encouraged to lean into The Row, The Circle and The Chair as we follow Paul. The series journal (available in the Atrium each week at service) provides an excellent opportunity to take notes, reflect on what you are learning and think through some next steps. The simple practice of taking time to write something down during the weekend service, your small group and your time alone with God can be life-changing. Maybe it is your first time journaling, or you’ve been journaling all along—lean into this formative practice throughout this series.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Open your journal and reflect on a life-journey you have gone through. Write down how you saw God work in the midst of your challenges. Thank him for giving you strength for the journey.
