TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:8-10

Read: 1 Peter 4:8-10

TODAY’S MESSAGE

1 Peter’s letter was written for many churches. It was meant to be read, passed around, and used to build-up each church. Near the end, Peter tells each person in each church to use whatever gifts they have to serve others. A few important things to note here. (1) Everyone has gifts to use. (2) Each gift is for serving others. (3) Using the gifts is one way we love each other in the church.

In the same way, we each receive gifts meant to serve. It is not loving to hide our gift or demand to use it in ways only we see fit. Instead, we are each given gifts to serve others and build the church up.

There are many opportunities to use our gifts at Ada Bible. We have many different ministries and roles to fit a variety of gifts. If you’re not sure how you are gifted or where to begin, a great first step would be to jump into one specific area and listen to the feedback you get. You can’t learn your gifts from the sidelines. Often God uses the affirmation of others to show our gifting to us.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Spend a few minutes thinking about how God has gifted you and how you could use those gifts to love those at our church. If you are not currently serving, visit Serving Finder to pick a ministry to start serving. If you are already serving, thank God for giving you gifts to use and ask him to help you do your best each time.
