TODAY’S MESSAGE

Massive ups and downs filled Abraham’s journey to trust. Responding to God’s call, he leaves his homeland for an unknown country. But during a famine, he took control and ended up in a mess in Egypt. Waiting decades for a promised son, he later decides maybe God meant to bless him through Hagar and not Sarah. This brings lifelong heartache. Yet Abraham came back to God’s promises each time he wavered. He grew over time. Abraham’s story of trust ends right where it begins—with God reaffirming a blessing to all nations through Abraham’s offspring (Genesis 22:18).

We can’t expect our journey of trust to be perfect. One day we might respond in faith and trust, and the next in fear and trembling. Yet God is ready to welcome us back when we return to trust him. Our lives of faith will ripple into those around us, possibly for generations to come, as God works through us.

The Apostle Paul encourages us to be “confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6). God will continue to provide his strength to obey and follow him for the rest of our lives as we trust him.
