TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16

Read: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Listen: 2 Corinthians 4

TODAY’S MESSAGE

We are suddenly in the land between, living in an undesired and unwanted space. We scramble for childcare, face financial loss, or feel cooped up with everything on lockdown. Yet even in this space we resent most, God can do some of his very best work in our lives.

Daily we have opportunities to see God at work in our challenges. We don’t need to sugarcoat our sadness, grief and disappointment. But as we seek God’s help, he realigns our perspective to prevent pain from turning into runaway fear and anxiety.

Our attitude and focus impact how we journey through suffering. We can hold fast to the certainty of God’s presence and help in the midst of all this upheaval. We can cling to hope because of the continuing work of Jesus Christ in our lives. As we keep our eyes fixed on Christ and his eternal plan, he renews our spirits. He provides his courage to face crisis. We can rest in the promise that Jesus is with us always (Matthew 28:20).

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

How is your heart? Take a minute and journal a prayerful response to God. Acknowledge where you are and ask him to fill you with what you need for today. “Lord, today my heart is (anxious, resentful, angry, fearful, hurried, at rest, joyful, hopeful). Lord, please fill me with your (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control).”
