READ Proverbs 24 (listen). WRITE out one verse and SHARE with someone.

Proverbs 24 is part of the sayings of the wise (Proverbs 22-24). These sayings of the wise are instructive, covering justice, right living and warnings. The end of the chapter directly address justice in the court, followed by a lesson regarding the home twice in verses 23-34.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow. Proverbs 13:11

Read: Proverbs 13:11

Listen: Proverbs 13

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Money is an issue that affects everyone and requires wisdom. The author first tells his readers to avoid dishonest money. Then, he essentially tells them to spend less than they make so they can save money. Saving money will help them grow financial stability slowly and steadily.

While thousands of years removed from this advice, it rings true today. Most financial books say the same thing using different phrases. Slow and steady growth in this area isn’t always easy. It requires something elusive to us today—the habit of contentment.

Instead of chasing after the newest and hottest thing, we have to learn to be content with what we can afford. Instead of spending money to project a particular image, it is about slowly and steadily saving to find financial stability. There are many enemies of slow and steady growth in this area. Comparison, dissatisfaction, fear and impatience urge us to spend now and save later.
