#AdaWisdomChallenge

READ Proverbs 25 (listen). WRITE out one verse and SHARE with someone.

Proverbs 25 is part of the second collection of Solomon’s proverbs, collected by King Hezekiah (Proverbs 25-29). This section contains vibrant and varied proverbs with many explicit comparisons. Some of the proverbs are longer in length, with two or more verses. The first part of the chapter directly addresses rulers.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! Proverbs 6:6

Read: Proverbs 6:6-8

Listen: Proverbs 6

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Solomon says to consider the way of the ant. He’s encouraging the reader to pause and reflect on how the ant survives. It doesn’t survive because of its vast size, hunting ability or farming skills. The ant survives because it stays at it. Back and forth, back and forth, the ant brings food into the colony so it can weather the winter.

Ant power is just as relevant today. We can learn from the ant. Next semester is coming and arrives with a mountain of reading and studying. Start chipping away at it—remember the ant. In a home with young children, summer laundry really piles up with play clothes, swimsuits, nicer looking clothes for the occasional journey out into public. Start chipping away at it—remember the ant. Reading the Bible through in a year seems nearly impossible. Start chipping away at it—remember the ant.

Focusing on the ant can make a world of difference in our lives. The earlier we harness the power of the ant, the more years we can practice its wisdom. Ant power helps us see the value in continuing, reviving or beginning meaningful habits.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Remember not to wait for the perfect habit. It’s easier to change a habit once it is in place than begin a new one. Don’t wait for the ideal organizer/calendar, laundry schedule or Bible reading plan. Identify one area you have put off developing a habit because you just couldn’t quite get the right plan. Take action in that area today.
