TODAY’S MESSAGE

Looking back over the years, Solomon is convinced that what his son puts in his heart will influence him for decades. He also knows the wisdom he’s teaching his son won’t accidentally find a home in his heart. The only way his son will develop a healthy heart is by regularly depositing God’s truth and wisdom. This truth and wisdom, which Solomon later tells his son to “bind” to his heart (Proverbs 6:21), will lead to real life.

Jesus taught this as well. “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of” (Luke 6:45). What we put it, what we invest, influences us. Our thoughts, speech and what we do will reveal—for all to see—what we’ve invested. Truth and wisdom will eventually come out if that’s we deposit.

We invest in different ways. Memorizing Scripture allows us to bring it to mind at a critical time. Studying biblical principles on parenting equips us to parent from a place of trust and not fear. Meditating on the stories of Jesus helps us easily tell others of his love for them. But like all investments, what we withdraw is based on what we’ve deposited. Start investing today!
