TODAY’S MESSAGE

Jesus is both God and man. It isn’t an easy concept to understand, but it’s true. He is 100% God and 100% human. We all know that people need love. As a human being, Jesus receives love from his heavenly Father. We see this at his baptism in Mark 1 before Jesus even begins his ministry. We see it again in Mark 8 when God tells the people around Jesus that he is a loved son. Jesus was loved by his heavenly Father.

God offers us his love too. In the same way that God tells Jesus he loves him even before he begins his ministry, God’s love for us is not dependent on what we do. We can’t earn God’s love, and it isn’t something we need to perform for. All we have to do is receive his love. This is often easier said than done. It can be hard to honestly believe we don’t need to earn God’s love. We might feel inadequate or undeserving because we think God’s love depends on us and our actions. God chooses to love us because of who he is, not because of what we do.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Take a few minutes to sit in God’s love. With hands open on your lap, slowly say to yourself five times, “God loves me. It isn’t because of who I am or what I’ve done, but because of who he is. He loves me.” After sitting in God’s love for a few minutes, thank him for loving you and ask him to help you remember his love for you.
