TODAY’S MESSAGE

Peter is invited to the home of Cornelius and begins the 30-mile journey from Joppa to Caesarea. He’s also on a spiritual journey that’s going to change his worldview forever, prompting him to rethink everything he knows about faith and obedience. The turnaround begins with a strange vision of what is godly. Next, he accepts an invitation from a Gentile to come to his house. Followed by a 1½ day hike, Peter enters the house and finally understands he should share the Gospel with Gentiles. One step at a time, Peter goes from avoiding Gentiles to sharing Christ in their home.

God doesn’t give Peter all the information upfront. But he gets Peter to the right place one step of trust at a time.

This is our journey too when we get into God’s Word, and he asks us to obey. When a world pandemic hits and he asks us to trust in his eternal plan.  Or when we get laid off, and God says not to give up on his provision and care. It’s trusting God with each small step that gets us where he wants us to be.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

How is God calling you to obedience? What is your next step in the journey? You don’t have to know where it leads—you just need to get moving. Talk about it with a trusted friend and ask God to help you take the first step.
