TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

TODAY’S MESSAGE

The psalmist’s cry echoes throughout time and gives words to the incredible pain and abandonment we all feel at various times in our life. People have always struggled with the questions, “Where is God?” and “What’s the Resolution?” In our suffering, we ask, “Where is God? What is he doing?” We think he ought to be doing something. We just don’t see it or recognize it.

This past weekend, guest pastor John Dickson explored these two important questions. He noted that while major belief systems attempt to answer these questions, only Christianity has the most compelling answers. Only through Jesus, and what he accomplishes on the cross, can we be assured that God identifies with our suffering and will ultimately bring it to an amazing resolution.

Chances are that you have asked these questions (or something like them) in the past few months. Prompted by national events or personal struggles, these questions often follow a deep sigh. Be assured that God has not left us without hope. The Scriptures we look at this week will give us encouragement and confidence for the days ahead.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

We need to see God for who he is—the God who is with you in your suffering. As you begin your week, pray for a commitment to see God as he reveals himself in the story of the Bible. Use this new understanding to move to a greater level of trust in the God who identifies with your pain.
