TODAY’S MESSAGE

This past weekend, Senior Pastor Jeff Manion kicked off our fall series, The Company of Christ. We will journey through the Gospel of Mark in this series. Mark’s account of Jesus’ life jumps from scene to scene in an almost hectic fashion, pulling the reader along to answer two questions, “Who is Jesus, and what does it mean to follow him?”

These two questions mattered immensely to Mark’s original audience. They are trying to figure out if suffering was normal as they endure increased persecution and suffering.

We find ourselves in a season of suffering too. The physical, economic and psychological impact of the pandemic is far-reaching. Those two questions are timely. We also need proper expectations around following Jesus, just like the first-century Christians.

Read the text on page 11 of your journal and circle the three characters we talked about in this weekend’s sermon. We will look more closely at The Baptizer, The Son and The Followers this week to begin to answer the two big questions above.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Commit to making all three environments of spiritual growth at Ada Bible Church a priority this fall.

  • Attend or watch the weekend services to participate in The Row.
  • If you aren’t in a small group, join a group to discuss the sermons. If you are currently in a group, make it a priority on your calendar to engage The Circle fully.
  • Join the church community in the daily reading plan. Use the tools in the journal to read through the weekly texts to get the most out of your time in The Chair.

Pray and tell God you commit to these three environments and ask for him to help you grow during this series.
