TODAY’S MESSAGE

Jesus continues to show his disciples who he is and what it means to follow him. Healing, teaching and performing miracles, Jesus is predominantly in non-Jewish regions with the disciples (characters you’ll circle today in your journal). Unfortunately, the disciples don’t see the connections they’re supposed to see. Jesus shows them time and again who he is and what he’s about. But they miss it. They’re not seeing him clearly.

We don’t always see Jesus clearly either. We can do the right things but still not see who Jesus is and what he is about. We attend weekend services, either in person or online. We actively participate in a small group where we dive deeper into the Bible and discuss the message. We even experience rich fellowship alone with God in our Chair time. But sometimes we miss Jesus’ heart. We don’t see something he deeply desires for us to learn and often need.

Two first steps to seeing Jesus clearly is a willingness to see and taking the time. By starting here, we can more fully understand who Jesus is and what he’s about.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Pray a prayer similar to this one as you begin to see Jesus more clearly, “Father, open my eyes this week to see Jesus better than I’ve ever seen him. Show me what I have been missing. Use what you show me to trust you more. Amen.”
