TODAY’S MESSAGE
In one week, we will wake up and celebrate the birth of Christ. Because of his deep love for us, the King of kings arrives as a baby, born in a humble manger in a backwoods town. The child whom Mary cradles in her lap is destined for the cross and a glorious resurrection.
Jesus explains to his disciples he came not to be served but to serve. Jesus lives a life of humility and suffering on our behalf. He’s Christ the King who gives his life for all. His triumph over death comes through incredible sacrifice. He is divinity-in-flesh who sets aside equality with God to become nothing—a servant, obedient to death (Philippians 2:6-8). Those who follow him will set aside their lives out of love for him.
This Christmas, consider this child—greeted by angels, guarded by shepherds, who lived the most humble life possible. He asks nothing of us he hasn’t already given. We bring nothing. Christ brings everything.
