TODAY’S MESSAGE

The Bags of Gold parable illustrates an important point: good managers take what they have been given and invest them for the benefit of the owner. We don’t know exactly how they did it, but the servants must have used their God-given abilities, skills and knowledge so their invested resources could expand the wealth of their master.

We, too, are managers of everything God has given us. This parable challenges us to invest our resources for God’s Kingdom. Great things happen when we do. When we invest, more people will place their trust in Jesus and experience life the way God intends. Our investment shows God’s love to people in our neighborhood, community and around the world. Watch this video clip below as Pastor Aaron Buer gives examples of how faithful servants invest their gifts for God’s Kingdom.

As Jesus-followers, we have some help the servants in the parable don’t have—the power of the Holy Spirit living in us. When we accept that Jesus died on the cross for our sin, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us (2 Corinthians 1:22). We can ask him to help us use and invest our gifts the way God desires.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Think through your time, finances and abilities. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you see where you can invest those things to increase his Kingdom, then ask for his help to make those things happen.
