TODAY’S MESSAGE

A lesson we are learning in The School of Contentment is to “get going.” In the Bags of Gold parable, it’s easy to miss those three little words “went at once.” Jesus clearly makes the point that two of the servants wasted no time in putting their bags of gold to work. They didn’t wait around for the perfect moment. They got going.

We don’t have to wait around for the perfect moment either. Like the two servants, we don’t need a refined plan. We can start investing our time and abilities whether it is the ideal opportunity or not. We can start giving a percentage of our income whether it’s the amount we want to end up giving or not. As Pastor Jeff Manion has told us many times, “later” usually means “no.”

Start small and move forward from there. Some ideas to get started would be to write someone an encouraging note or take a meal to a family impacted by COVID. You could set up recurring gifts to the church or sign up to serve where there’s a need. Get started and keep going!

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Keep asking God to show you where you can invest your time, finances and abilities. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you get started today and keep going.
