TODAY’S MESSAGE

Psalms 10 lands this psalm of lament with statements of trust in God. What’s interesting is the situation doesn’t exactly resolve. The psalm ends with hopefulness, even if God didn’t solve all of his problems. The psalmist focuses on the fact that God listens, hears and will act. We know something the psalmist didn’t. God took our pain, suffering and even the weight of our sin upon himself at the cross.

We should take note of this because God might not fix our problems or remove us from them either. Yet, we can have hope because he will be with us in them. As we battle disease and health issues, God hears our prayers. As we grapple with depression or anxiety, God is there with us. When we fight temptation and evil, he sees us. As we struggle with doubt, we are not alone.

Another reason for hope is that God has a good plan. As Pastor Buer said this weekend, “Evil has an expiration date.” Evil, injustice and oppression will not last forever. Every act of oppression will be held to account. As we battle disease and health issues, we know God will eventually heal all things. As we wrestle with depression or anxiety, we know God will wipe away every tear. When we fight temptation and evil, we remember God will defeat evil once and for all. As we struggle with doubt, we know that someday we will see Jesus face-to-face. We have reason to hope and reason to tell God we trust him.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Listen to our Ada Bible Worship Team sing, “Way Maker.” The song repeats the refrain, “You are here,” over and over. As you listen, use the words as a prayer of trust and a reminder that God is present with you no matter what is going on around you—and he has a good plan.
