TODAY’S MESSAGE

This week we are looking at David’s response to betrayal by a close friend. The Bible records his raw conversation with God for us. It serves as an example of how we can communicate with God when we experience the same emotions. The Bible records another story of betrayal—the story of Jesus’ experience.

Jesus is betrayed, abandoned and deserted by those closest to him in his most vulnerable moments. Jesus’ experience of pain and suffering helps us realize the uniqueness of Christianity. No other religion has a God who comes down to earth for humanity and endures the same types of things we go through. Not only is Jesus betrayed, abandoned and deserted, but he died for those of us who do those things to others. Watch this video clip as Pastor Jeff Manion tells us if Jesus was willing to suffer that for us, he must love us a lot.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Thank Jesus for loving us enough to endure betrayal, abandonment, desertion and death on a cross. Jesus’ life, death and resurrection stand as the ultimate reminder that we can trust our God. Jesus can say, “Trust me, I know,” when we bring our pain to him. He experienced it. Close the week as David closes the Psalm, telling God, “But as for me, I trust in you” (Psalm 55:23b).
