TODAY’S MESSAGE

David’s hope cannot be shaken. He lands his prayer trusting God’s promises for the future despite his contradictions of emotion and belief. David looks forward to the day when the poor have enough to eat, all nations worship God and the LORD rules the earth. He is confident his ancestors will say, “God has done it!”

The Apostle Paul also looks forward to the day when God restores all things. He reminds us whatever we suffer now doesn’t compare to our future, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18). Paul knows Jesus’ life, death and resurrection fulfill the promise David looked forward to. Paul reminds us we too can look back at the cross and have confidence for our eternal future with God.

Our pain here is deep and genuine. Yet one day, God will wipe away every tear. There will be no more death, mourning, crying or pain (Revelation 21:4). Until that day, we cling to the promise of our future restoration. Even if we don’t see the promise here, God has already fulfilled it. He is faithful to finish what he’s started in us.
