TODAY’S MESSAGE

Throughout history, Christians have devoted themselves to learning about God, the good news of Jesus and what that means for their life. The truth about God and his love for us is what nourishes everything else we do. Watch this video clip as Pastor John Dickson explains the word “disciple” means student. To be a disciple of Jesus means to be a student of him, to study his life and his word.

Some of us love the idea of being a student, while others hate the idea. But we study things all the time. For fun, we study lawn care, the NFL, birding, the latest show on Netflix or our friends’ social media posts. We become experts in these things. They aren’t necessarily bad things but aren’t as important as being a student of God. Being part of the first church meant being a student. To follow Jesus today means to be a student too.

IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY

Commit to being a student of God and his word. One great way to be a student of God in our church community is by knowing what our church believes. The Ada Bible beliefs are in a document called We Believe (adabible.org/we-believe) that addresses key areas of biblical knowledge. Over the next few days, read through We Believe. We’d love to have a conversation with you about any questions. Email us at btw@adabible.org. If you’re interested in going through the We Believe as a small group, reach out to us for a version with built-in small group questions.
